Memoirs Of A Time Traveling Caroler (Pt 2)

I looked around until I spotted a small orange light in the distance and began cautiously going close to it. As I walked I began passing sheep, first only a few but they quickly grew in number. When I approached the light, I recognized it as a fire, and the people around it looked and sounded similar to the family that I had just seen a few minutes ago. I tried greeting again, but was disappointed to discover myself as invisible again.
I wondered what had happened and if I was going crazy—that was the only thing that made sense. Whatever had happened, it occurred when I was singing. I thought that if I sang again, I could get home. It felt silly, but I decided that if there was any chance at all it was my best shot.
The campfire was the only light, so I went and I huddled by it to read from the book. I turned to the first worn out page and began singing Jingle Bells at the top of my lungs. When nothing happened, I sang it again, this time including every verse, but still nothing changed. I proceeded to sing from the next five pages, but Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer, Dreaming Of A White Christmas, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause, and Deck The Halls all had the same effect. I sat down defeated next to one of the campers who was playing on a harp—I think.
I stared up at the sky as I listened to the campers play music and talk. The quiet night air was warmer than it had been back home and I took off my hat. My mind wandered as the night slowly passed, and I began thinking of how much brighter the stars were than back home. Even the festive lights couldn’t compete with how brilliant they were.
The music stopped and most of the campers went to lie down while others went towards the sheep. A calm peace was over the valley, and I was finding myself calming as well. The wind had caught the pages again, and flapped until I grabbed the book. I looked at the song, and decided another try wouldn’t hurt—besides, it had been awhile since I had heard it.

Oh Holy night, the stars are brightly shining! It is the night, of our dear Savior’s birth.

I sang the words contentedly, and they seemed strangely at place besides the fire’s dying glow. I’m not sure how fast fires burn, but that one went out fast once I had finished. I hoped I was going home, but the stars above me were stark reminders that I was still wherever I was. But I was very surprised as they began turning. The whole sky seemed to have spun a little circle.
When the stars slowed down and eventually stopped, I thought that maybe some how I had moved. I had little time to think about this as a blinding white light burst into the night. I held up my hand to shield my eyes, when I moved it I knew I had to be crazy.

Back to back weeks, yay! I hope you all enjoyed this week's entry with our time-traveler, though the next entry should be more exciting. School's starting up soon so I'm not sure what my schedule's going to look like, but hopefully I can stay some-what regular on the posts. As always, like share and subscribe!
